What is Mindfulness?
The practice of mindfulness is the intentional cultivation of the innate capacity for non-judgmental moment-to-moment awareness. It is increasingly being recognized as a healing and wholesome way to live. By developing and maintaining a mindfulness practice - sitting meditation, yoga, walking meditation, Qigong, to name a few - one strengthens inborn internal resources which naturally flow into everyday experiences and interactions. As a result, practitioners often
begin to:
Respond to life more thoughtfully by choice, and less automatically by habit
Experience less negative judgment and anger
Enjoy better sleep, mood, and energy levels
Notice improvement in emotional well being
Listen attentively, often leading to improved relationships
Accept things as they are, which permits wise action - including change - from a place of alignment, rather than denial
