Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Recognized nationally and internationally as a scientifically supported stress reduction program, MBSR is an eight-week course that is highly experiential, participatory, and supportive. Offered in hundreds of health-care and wellness settings throughout the U.S. and worldwide, the program has been researched extensively over the past three decades.

The course incorporates meditation, gentle stretching, group discussion, and the latest in neurobiological research to educate participants in time tested and effective methods of mindfulness practice which have proven beneficial for people with:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety and Panic
  • Chronic Pain
  • Sleep Disruption
  • High Blood Pressure

However, MBSR is not only for people with health-related concerns. It is also beneficial for people desiring to improve professional, academic, or athletic performance, interpersonal connections, and for anyone who seeks a more wholesome and positive way to experience life.

MBSR Course Format

The course consists of eight weekly class sessions of 2 1/2 hours duration, and one all day retreat (9 am – 3 pm), typically held on a Sunday. Classes include:

Individual interview with each class participant

Guidance in a variety of mindfulness meditation practices

Direction and assistance in gentle stretching and simple yoga

Interactive exercises designed to elicit the skills and qualities of mindfulness

Readings, logs, and audio recordings to support each aspect of the participant’s home practice.

Participants must commit to regular class attendance and daily home practice at the time of enrollment.

The next 8-week MBSR series is scheduled for Thursday evenings beginning January 25, 2018

The fee for the eight-week MBSR course is $530 which includes a retreat facility fee and lunch on the day of the retreat. A 5-month payment plan is available. If you require a payment term longer than 5 months, please call 239-590-9485 and we will be happy to discuss. Florida licensed mental health professionals, and members of the M. S. Society of Southwest Florida, receive a 20% discounted tuition.

Day of Mindfulness Retreat


This is a day retreat for current MBSR students and past graduates. Spend a day practicing mindfulness - silent walking and sitting meditation, yoga, and loving-kindness practice. Spend time in nature, enjoy solitude, and eat a mindful meal. Our retreats are held at a beautiful facility in Bonita Springs.
